10 things to do in Calgary this weekend: July 15-17
The Stampede ends with a country music star, and a long-running music festival in Calgary takes place!

Fight brain freeze with an ice cream eating contest
What: Do you have what it takes to be the Joey Chestnut of ice cream? Here’s your chance to find out! Join Foothills Creamery for its first-ever ice cream tasting contest as part of National Ice Cream Day celebrations. Participants will have five minutes to deposit as much ice cream as possible. Non-iced food will be provided by Neon Taco for the afternoon celebration.

Discover legendary bands at The Oxford Stomp
What: The musical tradition is back as the Oxford Stomp rocks Shaw Millenium Park. Check out Kyle McKearny, Serena Ryder, The Black Crowes and Our Lady Peace. Funds raised support the Calgary Military Family Resource Center (MFRC).

Take part in a tradition of Calgary theater with Shakespeare on the Go
What: The tradition returns as Theater Calgary takes Shakespeare on the Go across the city again this year. The Merry Women of Windsor is the star this year for the family event and easily accessible.

Discover a new exhibition at Telus Spark: Luminarium
What: Imagine walking inside a larger than life version of a kaleidoscope or stained glass window full of color and light. That’s what Telus Spark is offering people with its new Luminarium exhibit. With 21 cavernous illuminated domes spread over 11,000 square feet, the inflatable light sculpture bursts with vivid natural colors that reflect off the curved walls.

Visit a brand new exhibition at the National Music Center of Canada
What: A new exhibition at Canada’s National Music Centre, ‘Buffy Sainte-Marie: Pathfinder’, shows the evolution of one of the first innovators of digital art, starting with the purchase of the first Macintosh computer from the Cree singer-songwriter in 1984. The traveling exhibit will be on display at Studio Bell until August 1, 2022.

The Calgary Science Center team took what many would consider the toughest subject in science – quantum physics – and turned it into a floor-to-ceiling visual adventure everyone can relate to.
